Marine Ecology Group

top_1.jpg

The MEG group has been actively researching the field of marine mammals and seabirds for over a decade, and have expanded their expertise to cover other components of the ecosystem including plankton, sunfish, sharks, turtles and jellyfish. Research focuses on assessing the abundance, distribution, and foraging ecology of these species, and their interactions with human activities through a combination of surveys, long term monitoring, diet studies and biotelemetry.

Our research informs conservation policy and provides guidance on appropriate mitigation measures to ensure an ecosystems approach to the management of marine resources.
